Planting - designing with plants

Plants 'clothe' the structure of the garden providing the essential link with the natural world. We aim to give visual pleasure in every season as well as scent in summer. Move your mouse over each picture for an enlarged copy

Prairie planting gives winter interest.

Planting styles reflect the degree of formality in the design. Prairie planting, using swathes of grasses may be suited to the country garden while evergreen hedges will add to the formality of a town garden.

By repeatedly using a small selection of plants we create harmony and rhythm and we often under-plant with bulbs to create seasonal impact.

Stem and leaf colour are as important as the flowers. Alliums give impact to an informal laburnum walk.

Many of our clients just want us to replant an area of their garden to give variety or to revitalise tired planting schemes.

Our on-site pottery can also provide and plant up hand-thrown terracotta planters to order. Shown here are planters enlivening a Cotswold Courtyard.
